Longxing Temple Scenic Area is a 3A level tourist attraction located in Fengyang County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. It is mainly composed of the Longxing Ancient Temple, which was built in the Tang Dynasty. The scenic spot was built in the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (713-741). There are five floor palace style buildings, including the mountain gate, the Temple of Heavenly Kings, the Shakya ManiHall and other core buildings. There are many historical relics, such as steles, pavilions and pavilions.
Longxing Temple was first built during the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (713-741 AD) and has a history of more than 1300 years. As the birthplace of the Enlightenment School of Zen Buddhism in the Central Plains, the temple has preserved its complete architectural layout through dynastic changes, and the existing main building is a historical style renovated during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The scenic area is located in the central area of Fengyang County, covering an area of about 38 acres. The overall layout is backed by the residual veins of Fenghuang Mountain, with the moat system in front, forming a traditional feng shui pattern of front facing and back facing. The existing ancient architectural complexes are all covered with blue and gray colored tube tiles, and the beams and beams painted in cinnabar contrast sharply with the vermilion walls.
As the birthplace of the Chan school of enlightenment, the temple retains a complete system of Zen ritual inheritance. The Bathing Buddha Ceremony held on the birthday of Buddha on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month every year has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage at the municipal level in Chuzhou. The "Longxing Temple Stele" preserved in the temple records in detail the history of the spread of the Linji School of the Ming Dynasty Zen School in the Jianghuai River Basin.
