Inheriting the Spirit of Xiaogang and Supporting Rural Revitalization

On the morning of July 15th, the 2025 National College Students' Summer "Three Down to the Countryside" Social Practice Special Activity was launched in Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County. The theme of this event is "Inheriting the Spirit of Xiaogang and Supporting Rural Revitalization", which is one of the six local special activities in China and the first national social practice local special activity project in our province.

The special event is hosted by the Communist Youth League Anhui Provincial Committee and Anhui Student Federation, and jointly organized by Anhui University of Finance and Economics, Anhui University of Science and Technology, Communist Youth League Chuzhou Municipal Committee, Anhui Xiaogang Cadre College, and Xiaogang Village Party Committee. This special activity consists of three phases, with more than 1100 teachers and students from colleges and universities across the country conducting practical activities in Xiaogang Village. Going to the fields, visiting farmers, visiting parks, conducting surveys, practicing and seeking truth, and gaining knowledge. The activity uses on-site teaching methods such as face-to-face interviews with the leaders of the "big bag" initiative and hands-on experience of planting in the fields, allowing young students to hone their labor willpower, feel the changes in small posts, and contribute to rural revitalization through immersive practice.

The "Silver" Leaders Practice Team of Anhui University of Finance and Economics conducted an interview with Guan Youjiang, one of the leaders of the "Big Package" initiative, to explore the spiritual connotation of the source of reform; Listening to Dr. Lei Songlin, the head of the Xiaogang Village Doctoral Workstation, introducing the practice of integrating the three industries in Xiaogang and the enormous role played by technology and talent; Go deep into Xiaogang Village's live streaming base to experience the new momentum injected by digital technology into rural areas; Entering the Craftsmanship Vineyard Base and the 500 acre Colorful Rice Field Painting Base, touching the technological pulse of modern agriculture, witnessing the vivid transformation of Xiaogang Village from "breakthrough in food and clothing" to "common prosperity of the tertiary industry" in all aspects. The members of the practical team have expressed that through this survey, they have deeply felt the tremendous changes in Xiaogang Village and the connotation of Xiaogang spirit. In future learning and life, they will be inspired by Xiaogang spirit and contribute their own strength to rural revitalization.

The School of Food and Bioengineering at Hefei University of Technology conducted a research and practice team to study the spirit of reform and opening up and rural revitalization in Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County. The team went deep into the provincial-level intangible cultural heritage inheritance base - the courtyard of the "Former Farmhouse", conducted immersive learning and in-depth research, focusing on traditional cultural treasures such as Fengyang flower drums, folk songs, and phoenix paintings, and explored their inheritance, innovation, and empowerment paths in the rural revitalization strategy. Through immersive research, members of the practice team deeply realized that the traditional culture of Xiaogang Village is not a static specimen, but an "active factor" driving the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas.

Seven members of the "Xiaogang Spirit · Sports Empowerment" team from the School of Sports Industry and Leisure at Nanjing Sport University, in order to enrich the holiday life of young people in Xiaogang Village and promote the development of children's sports in Xiaogang Village, combined with the characteristics and professional advantages of the sports institute, adopted a group rotation teaching system and divided the teaching of traditional martial arts, rope skipping, basic long jump, and basketball enlightenment. These activities not only allowed children to learn sports skills through laughter and joy, but also invisibly ignited their enthusiasm and interest in sports. At the same time, the team members also conducted a questionnaire survey on the current situation of youth sports participation and spiritual education needs in Xiaogang Village, providing theoretical and practical basis for exploring the path of sports empowering rural revitalization in the next step.

It is reported that since the launch of the "Three Down to the Countryside" social practice special activity for college students in 2023, nearly 200 students from universities across the country have been attracted to Xiaogang Village to carry out practical activities.
